BAD, REAL BAD KITTY

I am trying to bring my book character into a 3D format and I am failing at it miserably. It looks more like a creature from another planet than a cat. I just want to know why is it that I can sculpt more complex detailed sculptures but I cannot do the simple? Frustrating....very frustrating. I guess I have to learn to celebrate the good and the bad. I am not giving up on this kitty though. I will finish it even if it means inventing a totally new creature.....lol.

THE THREE GRACES

This is a sketch I did of a sculpture I have at home called the 'Three Graces'. I was practicing drawing from observation and trying unusual angles such as a top view.

BAD KITTY - THE BIKER GIRL

This was a fun illustration to make. It has a good amount of detail. She is holding a medal she won at a recent biker's event. Enjoy!

MY TOUR TO THE PRINTER

I got to go on a tour of a few printing companies and I learned quite a few things about the printing process. Here is one of their huge pre-press machines for color separations. Each one of these units handles an individual color. It was very interesting.

NEWS & NOTES

Somehow this kitty likes to show up inside my imagination. It is everywhere I look. This is an ink illustration I did today which I submitted to the regional chapter of the 'Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators' for their quarterly magazine. I also submitted another illo of the same kitty. They responded immediately to tell me that the illustrations where terrific. They also asked me if one of them was not used, if they could keep it on file. That led me to believe that they are thinking of using at least one? Well... seeing is believing. I'll wait for their magazine to come out.

SQUEEKIE - THE CURIOUS CAT

This is a sketch I did today. It is the same character (Squeekie) from my published book. In this sketch, Squeekie went riding with his friend Teddy. I bet he thought it was easy...lol.

FINAL - THE FIRST APPLE COMPUTER

I call this painting 'the first apple computer'. If you notice, there is an apple hanging against a black background which represents the primitive computer monitor. Further down there are letters painted on the leaves to represent the keyboard and to the right of the apple there is a little mouse hanging from a branch. It looks like the entire scientific community also came to see the big invention. Enjoy!

THE FIRST APPLE COMPUTER

This is a sketch of a painting I did. I put the final piece on the next post.

ONE BIG PARTY

This painting took me a few months to complete. I got the opportunity to display it at a show and it earned an 'honorable mention' award.

THE VEELAS

Veelas are spirits or fairies of the woods, streams and lakes. They are described as young beautiful maidens with long flowing hair, dressed in white. They love to make music and dance in the forest. They are normally benevolent towards humans, but if they are seen during their dances, they may bring misfortune to the intruder.
